Arriving at the Research Center
The plane comes down hard on the runway. A sleeping Luigi, having missed the seatbelt warning, is launched through the roof and lands face-first on the tarmac. Shaken but unharmed, the group reunites outside and sets off toward the convention, leaving Mario free to explore the grounds on his way in.
Cutscene Script: Landing at the Research Center

Scene 1 - INT. Mushroom Kingdom Airplane
As Mario settles into his seat, the plane begins to descend onto the runway, eventually landing with a thump and slowing to a stop. The impact jolts Luigi awake. Having missed the fasten seatbelt sign earlier due to being asleep, he flies out of his seat and crashes through the ceiling of the plane, eventually landing face first into the runway.
TOADSWORTH: "Finally landed! Excellent! The cabin felt especially stuffy this time around."
Mario and Co. get out of their seats and exit the aircraft. They all gather outside. Luigi is still face down in the concrete.
PEACH: "Luigi?! How did you get out here so fast?" Luigi pulls himself out of the ground and jumps back upright.
LUIGI: "Ugh… what happened?"
PILOT: "Well, that's one way to decommission a plane. Folks, this is why we fasten our seatbelts!"
PEACH: "Oh, jeez. We're sorry about that, Ms. Pilot. We can get that repair figured out later. For now, let's all just go enjoy the convention!"
Everyone except Mario begins walking offscreen. A few small messages appear concurrently above their heads as they walk away that are uncontrollable by the player.
The player is given control to make their way up to the Research Center. Various employees of the establishment and other attendees are dotted around the environment.
After entering the Research Center, transitions to: 03 - Entering the Convention
As Mario makes his way to the main building, he meets various researchers and other attendees of the convention. Everyone is excited for the event to begin. All the booths are set up inside the Research Center's atrium.
The group enters the atrium together. At the far end of the room, Codey can be seen frantically tapping at his phone, desperately trying to get a hold of Cachely, but receiving no response. Shortly after entering, Peach is beckoned towards an exhibit by a researcher, and Luigi decides to go find E. Gadd.
Cutscene Script: Entering the Convention
Summary
Mario and Co. arrive in the Research Center's atrium, where a distressed Codey paces nearby trying to reach his sister. The group splits up to explore the exhibits, leaving Mario on his own until he chooses to approach Codey.
Scene 1 - INT. Atrium
FADE IN
An establishing shot begins panning from the right, first showing Codey nervously pacing in the corner, staring at a device. A text bubble appears as the camera pans by that opens and closes without player interaction.
CODEY: "C'mon, c'mon! Is this thing broken or something? Sis, why aren't you answering?!" As the camera reaches the other side of the atrium, Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Toadsworth enter from the left, walking and observing the various exhibits available at the event.
PEACH: "Oh, I don't even know where to start! This all looks magnificent!"
LUIGI: "Before I do anything, I'm gonna go find the professor. I'll catch you guys in a bit."
Luigi takes off running out of frame to the left.
RESEARCHER (off screen): "Princess! You're finally here! Come quick! I've got something you'll definitely be interested in!"
PEACH: "Oh, sure. I'll be right over!"
Peach steps out of frame to the right toward the researcher's voice. Toadsworth follows closely behind. Mario is now left to explore the event alone.
The player can check out any of the various exhibits at the convention and talk to the researchers. The story will move forward once they decide to speak with Codey.
After talking to Codey again, transitions to: 04 - Disaster in Gearonia!
There are numerous exhibits for Mario to check out around the atrium, each with varying technologies and use cases. However, Codey still remains anxiously pacing in the corner. Mario decides to walk over and check in on him.
